Art Evans cuts ribbon

"Arthur Evans of Bradford, former Simcoe Centre MPP, was among the dignitaries at the official opening of the new Simcoe County courthouse in Barrie last Friday. Mr. Evans who represented Simcoe Centre for 16 years, was joined in the plaque unveiling and ribbon cutting by Roy McMurtry, Attorney General of Ontario, and George McCague, Minister of Government Services. The courthouse is in downtown Barrie and it cost $7.3 million. It contains four county courtrooms and five courtrooms for the criminal and family court divisions. The building also accommodates the office of the sheriff and Crown attorney, administration offices, and the Simcoe County Law Association. A large crowd braved snowy weather to watch the opening ceremony and tour the modern building."

Arthur Evans appointed

"Arthur Evans, retired MPP for Simcoe Centre, has been appointed as investment counsellor with the Municipal Savings and Loan Corporation in Barrie. The president of the company, Maxwell L. Rotsetin, announced the appointment."

Simcoe Centre MPP D. Arthur Evans

"To save 32 million acres of food-growing land is to interfere with the delicate buyer and seller relationships of the marketplace. Massive state intervention in the marketplace does guarantee absolutely that the productive capacity of Ontario's farmers will be severely restricted by a new host of governmental restrictions and directives. If you examine the food growing capacity of certain totalitarian nations such as the Soviet Union, the state of that country's agriculture is nothing short of national disaster."
