Description : The Annual Meeting of South Simcoe District Women's Institute will be held May 20th at Tec-We-Gwill Hall, Newton Robinson, with registration at 8:30 a.m. The theme is "100 Year of Active Involvement", celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Women's Institute of Ontario. Special speaker is Helen Coutts, Mayor of Springwater, who has roots in both municipal politics, and W.I. work. There are 6 branches of South Simcoe that are still active - Bond Head (77 years), Churchill (94 years), Cookstown (96 years), Fisher's Corners (76 years), Tec-We-Gwill (50 years) and Tottenham (77 years). All branch members are invited to attend, and each one is asked to bring small items (i.e., pens, note pads, knick-knacks, etc.) for the Goody Bags that the W.I. ladies are making for the International Plowing Match draws. There were 100 Centennial Awards presented by the FWIO in Ontario, for contributions to W.I. - and Joy Larkey, Bond Head branch, was one of the recipients.
