Lenton, John William obituary (long)

Event Date : Wednesday, January 09, 1957
Event Type : Death

Description : Around noon last Wednesday John Lenton suffered a heart attack while at work on his farm, Concession 7, Tecumseth Township. The doctor was called and after giving him attention called the ambulance to move him to hospital. The driver of the ambulance entered the home but a few minutes before Mr. Lenton expired. There having been no previous warning of a heart condition, his sudden passing was a great shock to his family. A native of England, Mr. Lenton came to Canada and to West Gwillimbury in 1930, where he farmed. Twenty-one years ago last month he married the former Mildred Mundy, daughter of Mr. Dave Mundy, now of Bradford, and the late Mrs. Mundy. Mr. and Mrs. Lenton farmed in West Gwillimbury until about five years ago when they purchased the farm in Tecumseth. An Anglican in religion, Mr. Lenton was a member of St. John's Tecumseth Church. A quiet, industrious man he was held in high regard by all who knew him. Mr. Lenton is survived by his wife, Mildred; three daughters, Mary, 13, Margaret, 10, and Jean, 3; and two sisters and a brother in England. The funeral was held from the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home in Bradford with services conducted by his rector, Rev. C. R. P. Hearn of Bond Head. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. The pallbearers were neighbours of the deceased in Tecumseth.
