He answered questions about the government's wage and price controls and threatened stiffer measures if the controls do not stop inflation. The press conference was held in the Royal York Hotel after Trudeau addressed a Rotary Club luncheon."

STELCK, Mervyn Hey - At the Riverdale Hospital on Wednesday, March 21, 1990. Merve Stelck, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Cunningham. Lovingly remembered by daughter Pat Williams and grandsons Peter and Evan, all of Torongo. Cremation has taken place at St. James' Crematorium, Toronto.

Description : A life-long resident of Bradford, Alexander W. Spence of 155 Barrie St. died in Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, on February 28. Mr. Spence, 72, owned and operated Spence Lumber on Bridge St. He served on the former Bradford School Board and on the Bradford Council for several years. He was active in the conservation association, served as a Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the United Church. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 3 in the Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Chapman officiating. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Surviving are Mr. Spence's wife, the former Mary Brady; one daughter, Mrs. Keith (Betty) Noble of Bradford; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Hammel of Bradford; one brother, Emerson of Delhi and three grandchildren, Douglas, Ronald and Barbara.Three brothers and one sister, William, Norman, Arthur and Emily are predeceased.

SMITH, Velma Bertha - Peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Etobicoke on Thursday, November 3, 1994. Velma Laczko in her 90th year, a long-time resident of Bradford and one of the early market retail stand operators. Beloved wife of the late Paul George Smith. Dear mother of Velma and her husband Gerald Campiglia of Florida, Paul and his wife Eleanor of Etobicoke and predeceased by William. Dear sister of Malika and Emma both of Hungary. Velma was a very proud and loving grandma to Donald, Dennis and Peter of Florida, Paulette, Cathy and husband Angelo of Toronto, Steve, Christine and Jackie of Hamilton. She was a cherished aunt to Janci and Erzike of Hungary, fondly remembered by several great-grandchildren. Friends called at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Street, Bradford. Funeral Mass was held at the Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, Bradford on Monday November 7, 1994 at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Martyrs Cemetery.
