Description : Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at Bradford Valley Long Term Care, Bradford on Sunday, April 11, 2004. Gib Blackwell of Bradford in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Stewart (December 31, 1993). Loving father and father-in-law to of David (Wendy) of London, late Mary Lyn (Jim) Weir of Winnipeg, Paul (Nancy) of Innisfil, Barb (Dave) Miedema of Bradford and Peter (Wendy) of Waterdown.Dear brother and brother-in-law of Keith (June) of Toronto and late Isabel (Harry) Graham of Sault Ste. Marie. Grandpa will be sadly missed by Shannon, Meagan, Shane, Jayme, Erin, Vivky, Abby, Nick, Tyler, Jason, Justin, Kyle, Paul and Heather, and his 3 great-grandchildren, Evan, Noad and Anna. Gib will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Gib served the community with compassion and devotion as a family physician for 55 years, Coroner, Chief of Staff of York County (Southlake) Hospital, Lions Club member, Past Master of the Simcoe Masonic Lodge, past supervising physician at Newmarket Long Term Health Care, past member of Board of Education, long time member, active Elder and Board of Trustees of Bradford United Church, a great friend to many, and a very devoted family man. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bradford United Church, 66 Barrie St., Bradford on Saturday, April 17, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Donations to the Ruth Blackwell Memorial Fund at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket would be appreciated.
