Description : Died at the Bestview Lodge, Newmarket, in her 99th year. Of Bradford, beloved wife of the late H. F. S. Gardner and dear mother of Tom and the late Ada, loving grandmother of John of Toronto and Donald of Simcoe. Service was held from the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment Newmarket Cemetery.

Bradford's new Post Office building, construction of which was started late last fall, is now completed, inside and out, with the exception of the installing of interior fittings, the contract for which was let some time ago. The new building, besides filling a long-felt need in this thriving and progressive village of over 1,000 population, is a most attractive addition to Bradford's business section. ..."

This building is located at 26 Holland St. West. H.F.S. Gardner, his wife Bertha, and children Tom and Ada (who was in a wheelchair) moved from Newmarket to this area in 1920. They opened a combination general and hardware store that sold clothing, boots, shoes, paints, tools, coal, oil, etc. The business used all the available space in the building, including the two floors and the basement. The family lived on Simcoe St. in a house owned by Miss Hill. (1, 2)
