Description : A resident of Bradford during the past thirty-five years, Mr. Harold R. Scarrow passed away at York County Hospital, Newmarket, on Tuesday, January 19, after an illness which extended over a period of about a year, during which he had been at home and in hospital at intervals.Mr. Scarrow was born on West Garafraxa Township, Dufferin County and his early years were spent farming there. In 1913 he married Eva Jane Taylor of East Garafraxa Township and in 1930 Mr. and Mrs. Scarrow moved to Bradford where Mr. Scarrow operated a garage and service station and later became an auto salesman. Since 1950 he had been a salesman with Brad. Walker Motors.Mr. Scarrow was a past master of Cypress L.O.L., Bradford, and a member of the Black River Hunt Club. In politics he was a staunch Conservative.He is survived by his wife, of Bradford, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Greenaway of Elora. Two brothers and three sisters prredeceased him.His church was Bradford United and Rev. D. Lute, minister of that church, conducted the funeral services on January 22 at the Lathangue-Kilkenny Funeral Home in Bradford. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Grand Valley.The pallbearers were Lorne Fines, Dr. R. H. Judge, Alex. Scarrow, George Armstrong, Brad. Walker, Bill MacTavish.Honorary pallbearers, Seward M. Lee, Lorenzo Harvey, Clarence Harvey, Robt. L. Brown, Fred C. Cook, Stanley Cairns.Flower bearers were, Lewis Campbell, James Church, Geo. Allan, Jas. Catania, J. A. Crake, Fred Gregory and Fred Miller.

Description : Mr. Walter Evans, only brother of D. Arthur Evans, M.P.P., and brother of Mrs. J. Noble (Norma) of Bond Head and Mrs. Tom Fuller (Marjorie) of Bradford, and son of Mrs. Evans of Bond Head, died in Detroit, Mich., following a considerable period of poor health.Mr. Evans, who served overseas during the First Great War with the 167th Battalion (Simcoe Forresters), was badly gassed at Passchendaele, and during the intervening years, though able to hold good positions, he had never enjoyed really good health. In recent years the condition had become aggravated and recently he had not been at all well.A native of Tecumseth Township, Mr. Evans returned to this area at least once each year, usually visiting at the home of his brother, and he had many friends in this area who will learn with regret of his death.The funeral took place in Detroit on Monday, where he has long been resident, and where he is survived by a daughter and another sister.
