Description : The funeral was held Saturday, Feb. 24, 1962, at Doolittle Bros. Funeral Home, for Jennie Mae McAfee, widow of the late Thomas Archer, who died at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia, Feb. 21, 1962, after a short illness, in her 89th year.Mrs. Archer was born at Coulson's Hill, four miles north of Bradford, Ontario, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mathew McAfee, in 1873, and lived in that vicinity for some sixty-seven years before making her home in Orillia in 1940.Mrs. Archer was married to Thomas Archer in 1895 at Barrie, Ont. Her husband predeceased her in 1938. Mrs. Archer is survived by two daughters, Louise (Mrs. Geo. Webb) of Mimico, Lillian (Mrs. Bert Burnet), and one son, Charles of Orillia; also five grandchildren, Jimmie Webb, Mimico, Barbara Anne Webb Wood of Oakville, Howard McKay, Richmond Hill, Anna Mae and Mari Lou Archer of Orillia, and four great-grandchildren, Dianne McKay of Orillia, David Wood, Oakville, Scott and Craig McKay of Richmond Hill. One son, Mathew, was killed in action in 1917.The service was conducted by the Rev. Eric A. Beggs and Miss Genevieve Fyfe of Aurora rendered a solo.Pallbearers were Jack Gray, Bradford, Fred Mullholland and Russell Lowery of Stroud, Howard McKay of Richmond Hill, Jimmie Webb of Mimico and Doug Wood, Orillia.Temporary entombment was made at St. Andrew's Cemetery Vault, Orillia, with a service in St. John's Presbyterian Church and burial in St. John's Cemetery, Coulson's Hill, later.
