Bradford's Centennial - Store floats

Bradford's Centennial Parade. Shops that line Holland St. W. include Kilkenny Furniture, Evans Bakery, and Bradford 5 Cents to $1.00 Store. The tow truck at the far right of the picture is from Monarch Ford. Behind it, two girls carry a banner which reads: "Centennial Congratulations from Ray Hodgson, Imperial Oil Dealer, and Joe Wintercorn, Imperial Oil Farm Trade Agent." Behind them is an old Imperial Oil gasoline tank wagon.

"Bradford's first Boy Scouts won the District Bugle at Newmarket in 1913. Leaders, George G. Green and Eldon Waldruff. Some of the boys in this troupe: Bill Stevenson, Charlie Evans, Alex Spence, (?) Hamilton, (?) McKinstry, Leonard Sutton, Norman Spence, Walter Coombs, George Mattice, (?) Bowles, Jack Stewart, Max Evans, (?) Bradford's First Post Office

This is Bradford's first building solely dedicated to a Post Office, built in 1936 at 22 Barrie Street. It was designed by Gordon S. Adamson, and contracted by J. Saint of Bradford. Prior to this, the post office was housed in a shared building on Holland Street on the current day Century 21 parking lot.

Bradford's Last Hydro Hook-Up

"Public Utilities man Roy Storey links the Campbell house up allowing the wonderful world of electric refrigerators and ranges. The last old house in Bradford without them has fallen to the soft life of 1970. Nevertheless, Campbell vows that the modernization of his home will not include a telephone."
