Description : Although an operation performed a good many years ago indicated that Miss Doris Kneeshaw suffered from an incurable malady, she never gave up her zest for life, and it appeared that this spirit prolonged her life. Even on the day before her admittance to hospital for the last time, in mid September, she made the trip to her home district to visit members of her family. She passed away in Riverdale Hospital, to where she was moved but a few days before her death, on Tuesday, December 27. Doris Kneeshaw was the second youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William M. Kneeshaw of Gilford. After her school days at Steele's Corners school and Bradford High School, she went to Toronto, where for a number of years she was employed in the Confederation Life office. She kept close contact with friends in this district by frequent visits to the homes of her brothers and sisters. Miss Kneeshaw did beautiful hand sewing, and as the crippling effects of her illness restrained her activities she used this skill as a hobby to occupy her time, and she also developed her skill in painting. Miss Kneeshaw was one of a family of three sons and seven daughters, of which one brother and five sisters survive, namely, Wilfred (deceased), Laura (Mrs. Walter Lloyd) of Bradford, Alberta (Mrs. J. E. Culbert) of Barrie, Thelma (Mrs. Culbert) deceased, Eileen (Mrs. J. Coutts) of Cookstown, Frances (Mrs. Matthew Kneeshaw) of Bradford, John Kneeshaw of Gilford, Bob (deceased) and Isobel (Mrs. Milton Hambly) of Bradford. The funeral was held from the Lewis Funeral Home, Bradford on Friday, December 30, with the minister from the charge of her old church, Ebinezer United, of which she was a member, Rev. C. Geddes, conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Heustin of the Presbyterian churches. Interment was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Coulson's Hill. The pallbearers were five nephews and a friend, namely, John Lloyd, Ron and James Kneeshaw, Kenneth Coutts, Allan Kneeshaw and Robert Hagerty.Card of ThanksThe family of the late Doris Kneeshaw wish to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to relatives, friends and neighbours for their beautiful floral tributes, messages of sympathy, and many acts of kindness extended to them both prior to, and at the time of, their recent sad bereavement in the loss of a loving sister, with special thanks to Rev. Geddes, Rev. Heustin and the Lewis Funeral Home.
