Description : A well known and highly respected resident of the Dunkerron and Schomberg district, Mr. George L. Walker of Schomberg passed away on Sunday morning following a lingering illness. Mr. Walker had for many years been afflicted with a rheumatic condition but he led a fairly active life unti he broke a hip bone in a fall last spring. Born at Dunkerron in 1880, the late Mr. Walker spent most of his life in the Dunkerron district where, until moving to Schomberg, he lived with his sister, the late Mrs. Joel Hughes.Interested in stock, and particularly in fine horses, Mr. Walker madea very able secretary-treasurer for the Schomberg Agricultural Society, a position he held for the past several years.Despite being crippled from the arthritic condition from which he suffered, Mr. Walker was always cheery and keenly interested in community affairs, especially the Schomberg fair. For this triumph over affliction he was admired and respected by a wide circle of friends.Surviving are two brothers, Norman of Schomberg and Elwood of Aurora; two nieces, Mrs. Clarence Logel (Elda) of Listowel, and Mrs. Wm. Burton (Irma) of Bradford; and two nephews, Roy Hughes of Schomberg and Orville Hughes of Bradford. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon with interment in Union Cemetery, Schomberg. The pallbearers were Wm. Scott, Boyd Proctor, Albert Bennett, Wilfred Aitcheson, Arthur McCutcheon and Herman Kaake.
