"Ms. Alison Leigh Beatty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Beatty of R.R. #2, Bradford, recently graduated from Women's College Hospital, School of Nursing in Association with Ryerson Polytechnical Institute."

"Thirty five students said good-bye to Bradford Public School last Thursday evening. The school also said farewell in a ceremony for the graduates. A large crowd of parents filled the auditorium for the hour long awards presentation followed by coffee and donuts. Sharon Dakin was the top student with an overall average of 91.6. For her hard work she received awards for the highest mark by a girl and also the general proficiency award for the highest marks in the class. A top student in history with a mark of 92.9. Sharon received a history award from the local branch of the Imperial Order of Daughters of the Empire. Blair Melton, with an average 81 per cent received the award for the highest marks by a boy in the grade eight class. The other award of the night, for good fellowship as voted by the class, went to Burton Stoddart. The guests on the stage were Sam Neilly, school board trustee for the area of Simcoe County School Board and Wes Nelson a retired teacher who worked as a supply teacher at the school this year. The master of ceremonies was the grade eight teacher Roger Barker. At the end of the evening the students presented Mr. Barker with a momento of their appreciation. Miss Terry O'Brien, the French teacher presented oral French certificates to the students. In addition to collecting awards Sharon Dakin gave the valedictory address. She remembered the nights staying up until two in the morning studying for tests then falling asleep during the test because of lack of sleep. Sharon finished with thanks to her teachers for their help. "A delighted Stephen Bainborough holds the silverware he collected at Bradford District High School commencement last week. Stephen was the people's choice for the Student Life Cup given to the Grade 12 student who has made the most worthy contribution to school life. Principal Don Nielsen sits beside him."

"Barbara Catherine Melbourne, 20, of Bradford has graduated from the Sheridan College School of Nursing. A total of 115 nurses will take part in the convocation ceremony at Glenforest Secondary School in Mississauga on Friday. Barbara completed a two-year course to acquire nursing registration."

"Bradford District High School has one Ontario Scholar this year: Cathy Lucas of RR 1, Lefroy, with an average of 80.2 per cent. Eighteen-year-old Cathy will go on to York University in the fall to study physical education and mathematics, but she said Monday that she hasn't made up her mind about what she wants to do when she graduates. Ontario scholars receive a $100 cheque to help defray the costs of expenses in university."

"Mary Frances Bateman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Gordon Bateman, Scanlon Avenue, Bradford, received the degree of bachelor of physical education on Saturday, May 28, at the spring convocation, McMaster University, Hamilton."

" Joyce Cairns, daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Stanley Cairns of Bradford, graduated from the legal secretary's course this month at the spring convocation at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology. She was accepted a position with Blake Cassells and Graydon at Commerce Court in Toronto."
