Description : Died at Alliston Hospital. Formerly of Cookstown and recently a resident of Bond Haven Nursing Home, Bond Head. The deceased was a life-long member of Cookstown United Church and was clerk of the session for several years before the demise of his wife, Ida Cornith, 13 years ago. Back in the days of Methodism, he was known as a lay preacher and took many services in both Cookstown and the little Bethesda Church in Innisfil Township, which was a sister charge, when minister was on holiday or otherwise. The deceased also ran and edited the well-known Cookstown Advocate for many years. The paper had to be closed down several years back because of the failing health of him and his wife who very ably helped him.Funeral services were held from the Hughes Funeral Home on July 10, conducted by the Rev. Paul Parkin, with interment in the family plot in the United Cemetery, Highway 27 North. Pallbearers were Doug Hopper, Hector Smith, Jack Wilson, Tom Rieves, Walter Beatty, and Lennox Rowe. His only sister, Beatrice, predeceased him six years ago.(Cookstown News)
