Description : Suddenly at her home, 64 St. Clair Ave. W., Toronto, in her sleep. Wife of the late Kenneth M. Morris, who predeceased her by several years. Mother of Kenneth C., Mount Forest, and Robert, Toronto. Lived with her son Robert, a student at Toronto University. With her husband, had built and operated the Riverview Inn for a number of years before it was sold, after which it was destroyed by a fire. They then built the Village Inn, which they operated for several years. Rested at the funeral chapel of A.W. Miles, 30 St. Clair Ave. W. Service held to the Toronto Necropolis.

Gardner, Thomas obituary

Description : A well-known Bradford resident died this past Sunday after suffering a heart attack following a lengthy illness.Eighty-one-year-old Thomas Gardner had been a resident of Bradford since 1918 and was chosen as the town's Citizen of the Year in 1976. Mr. Gardner was born in Newmarket and moved to Bradford with his family at the age of 16. He and his father, Herbert, opened Gardner's Hardware Store on Holland St. and supplied the needs of local residents. When his father died in 1950, Thomas continued the family business. He soon married longtime Bradford resident Rita Cook and had two sons of his own, Donald and John. Don worked with his father at the hardware store until 1962. The store was sold in 1973. Mr. Gardner sat on the Bradford Board of Education for 40 years and was chairman of the board at the time Bradford Public School was built. Other accomplishments included being a member of Bradford town council, elder and active member of the Bradford United Church and superintendent of the Church's Sunday School program for 25 years. He was also president of the Red Cross at the time of Hurricane Hazel. For 30 years, Mr. Gardner was a dedicated member of the Bradford Lions. He leaves behind his wife Rita, sons Don of Simcoe and John of Willowdale, and grandchildren Jim, Dave, Jane and Peter. Funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m., at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the Newmarket Cemetery.

Casket open in the church from 1:30 until commencement of service.

Description : Following several months of ill health, the last two of which were spent in hospital, Mrs. Albert Biemold, of R.R. 2, Newmarket, passed away in York County Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 15. A native of Holland, Mrs. Biemold came to Canada about four years ago. Her maiden name was Harmina Lubberts. One year before her death, on June 14, 1955, she married Mr. Biemold at Terrace, B.C., and returned with him to his Holland Marsh home. She was the second wife of Mr. Biemold and was just becoming acquainted as a member of the community when she lost her health. A member of the Holland Marsh Christian Reformed Church, her funeral was from that church on Monday afternoon with the services being conducted by her minister, Rev. Lagerwey. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.The pallbearers were members of her church, namely, Messrs. S. A. Winter, J. Uitvlugt, C. Miedema, J. Van Dyke, J. Van Dyken, and E. de Jong.

Also survived by 3 grandchildren. Rested at the Lewis Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe St., Bradford. Service was held in the Christian Reformed Church, Annsnorveld, Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Description: One of the happiest occasions in Mr. William C. Davey's life was the 50th anniversary of the forming of the Hunt Club which bore his name, the Davey Hunt Club. The half-century mark in that club was reached in 1947 and the anniversary was marked by an honorary banquet for the veteran head of the club. At that time many thought the ambition to reach the fifty years as an active member of the club had spurred the elderly man to keep going, but 1948 found him back in camp as he has been each intervening year. Last Wednesday, November 11, a message came from the hunt camp, located near Burwash, Mileage 98, that the Club's leader would hunt no more. Among his most cherished friends, including his own sons, and amid the scenes he had always enjoyed, the old man suffered a heart seizure and passed on within a few minutes. He was in his 90th year." ...
