Description : Gordon Henry Patton of Cookstown passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, April 25, 1954, after suffering a heart ailment.Gordon Patton was born in May, 1889, the son of the late William Patton and Margaret Ann (Erwin) Patton of Tossoronto. He attended school at Glencairn and had resided in Hamilton. He farmed in Tossoronto and Innisfil townships but had for some years been employed at Camp Borden with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He was a Conservative in politics and in early years was a member of Airlie Presbyterian Church. He was a kind dispositioned man, highly regarded by all who knew him. In 1911 he was married at Lisle to Eva Wilson, who, with three sons and three daughters, survives him, namely, (Helen) Mrs. Edward Harris, Grenfe(?); Russ of Alliston; Douglas, Toronto; Jack of Petawawa; (Jacqueline) Mrs. Kenneth Coburn of Cookstown; (Shirley) Mrs. Jack Smith, Oshawa. Also surviving are two brothers, James Patton of Avening and Herbert Patton of Creemore; and three sisters, Mrs. W. Handy, Everett; (Mary) Mrs. Walter Anderson, Lisle; and (Jean) Mrs. J. Cooper, Toronto.The funeral service was held in Cookstown Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 28, and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. George Moore. The pallbearers were Herbert Patton, James Patton, Charlie Russell, Archie Currie, Eldon Neilly and Douglas Hopper. Interment was in Alliston Cemetery.Besides the numerous flowers from friends and relatives were those from the Royal Canadian Engineers; Women's Association and W.M.S.; Women's Institute and elders of the Presbyterian Church.Relatives and friends attending the funeral were from Petawawa, Oshawa, Barrie, Creemore, Alliston, Lisle and Rosemount.
