Description : For 58 years a resident of Churchill, where her husband was postmaster, Mrs. Edward H. Sloan passed away at her home on March 22. She was in her 83rd year.Born in Barrie, the late, Mrs. Sloan resided there until her marriage in 1897. She had been a faithful member of St. Peter's Church, a Sunday School teacher, President of the W.A., and secretary-treasurer of the Ladies' Guild during her years in Churchill. She was also active in other community activities and was a life member of the Women's Institute.Mrs. Sloan is survived by her husband, Edward H. Sloan; three daughters, Mary V. Sloan at home; Lillian Sloan, Toronto; and Mrs. F. Wicks (Dorothy) of Markham; and one son, James F. Sloan of Brighton.The funeral was held on March 25 from St. Peter's Church, with services being conducted by Rev. L. F. Lowe, assisted by Rev. J. W. Newton-Smith of Allandale. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery.The honorary pallbearers were J. W. Lucas and Richard Dean.Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, namely, Eric Patchett, Harold Patchett, W. S. Boyd, Harry Sloan, Edward Sloan, and a cousin, Wallace Matchett.
