Description : At about 11:24 a.m. on May 26, emergency services were called to the 5th Sideroad and 11th Line of Bradford West Gwillimbury, for a house fire. The call-out came to the Cookstown Fire Department, which requested mutual aid from Bradford, including a tanker truck -- but by the time firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames. The column of black smoke and flames was visible from the Hwy. 400, and for miles around. The roof of the house, collapsed and the structure burned to the ground. Firefighters could only set up a defensive perimeter to prevent the spread of the fire. The house, a two-storey Victorian brick home, was empty at the time of the blaze. The Ontario Fire Marshal's office has been called in to investigate.
