          Description : Former resident of Bond Head. Died in Wellesley Hospital, Toronto, at age 88 years, after an illness of two weeks. Married Harry H. Porter, of Prince Albert, Sask. in 1916. Mr. Porter died in 1927. No children. Survived by one sister, Joce (Mrs. H.T. Baycroft) of Aurora. Predeceased by two brothers H. Beverley, Compton B. and two sisters, Eva (Mrs. John P.           "STODDART, VERA JANEL Peacefully passed away at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Lindsay on Thursday, February 21, 2019. Vera Stoddart (nee Fenwick) of Lindsay and formerly of Bond Head and Toronto in her 81st year. Leloved wife of Wilson for almost 59 years. Loving mom of Harry (Silvia) and Sandra (Peter) Labor. Loving grandma of Connor (Rebecca), Cavan, Harrison, Abigayle and Rebekah; Teigan and Sarah. Cherished sidter of Roy (Elaine) Fenwick. She will be dearly missed. She met life's challenges with grace, a quiet conviction, and persecerance. From her humble beginnnings as a city girl, she earned the respect of the farming community such that she became the first woman honoured as the Simcoe County Farmer of the Year (19990). She loved life on the farm, cherished her family and extended community, was a dedicated historian, and found beauty in her natural surroundings. Every day that she was able to share in the splendors of nature was another day well spent. She will be sadly missed by the countless organizations for which she volunteered. Friends may be received at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) for visitation on Thursday, February 28, 2019 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. FUneral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment Bond Head Cemetery. In Vera's memory, donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto."

          Description : Died at his home in his 92nd year. He had been confined to his bed for about two weeks and appeared to suffer a stroke a week prior to his death. Born on the farm on the first corner south east of Bond Head, which his father received from the Crown. He resided there until about twenty years ago, when he sold to his brother-in-law, Mr. A. E. Watson, and retired to his home in the village. A school-mate and lifelong friend of Sir Wm. Mulock, an athlete in his younger days, and an enthusiastic huntsman.Born of an old Quaker family, he later became a member of the Methodist church in Bond Head and latterly United Church. Mr. Phillips married Henrietta Watson, member of another pioneer family of the district, predeceasing him eleven years ago. Of a family of four sons and four daughters, one son and three daughters survive, namely, Dr. Arthur Phillips, Toronto; Mrs. Wm. Doyle, Saskatoon, Sask., Mrs. Robert Leeson, Newton Robinson. He was predeceased by his sons Frank, Percy and Dr. George, and one daughter, Evelyn. The funeral was held Nov. 17th from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Leeson, to Bond Head cemetery. Rev. Kendall of Bond Head officiated, assisted by Rev. A. G. Channen of Bradford.Pallbearers were Messrs. Jas. Coburn, Leonard Jackson, Seward Lee, William Hambly, John Woods and Thos. Robinson.

          Description : After a lengthy and painful illness, James Loblaw (Jimmie) Hipwell, 10 years old, and elder son of Mr. C. (Ted) and Dorothy Hipwell, died February 11 at his parents' home, Bond Head. Jimmy was a very alert and talented youngster, a pupil at the Bond Head school, and his early passing is most sad and distressing. The sympathy of the whole community goes out to his sorrowing parents and little brother, Reggie. That sympathy was shown by the large attendance at the funeral service held at Emmanuel United Church, Bond Head, at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon last, and by the great number of floral tributes received at his home. The service was in charge of Rev. E.A. McIlwain, assisted by Rev. C.R.P. Hearn. A solo was rendered by Jimmy Thompson, Its's Good-Night Here but Good-Morning Up There." Pallbearers were Walter Reynolds Wallace Reynolds Verle Stewart Jimmy Thompson Billy Breedon and Alan McLean. Some of Jimmy's many school chums and playmates were flower-bearers: Joe Foran Gordon Brown Joe Breedon Billy Bateman Douglas Reynolds John Broderick Norman Harvey Teddy Hipwell Donny Whiteside David Bateman Dick Foran Joan Cerswell Anne Cerswell Anne Breedon Marion Sutherland Gwen Geddes Mildred Reynolds Margaret Sutherland Lynn Hipwell Dianne Hipwell. The interment took place in the Hipwell plot at the Bond Head Cemetery."

          Wilbert Keith Orr, 75, of Bond Head, died Friday, January 18 at the York County Hospital, Newmarket.
          Son of Andrew Orr and Jane Campbell, both of Dufferin County, he was born Feb. 16, 1909 in Tecumseth Township. He was married Mar. 8, 1941 in the bride's home to Jean Lisk and has lived on the fifth line of Tecumseth and in Bond Head....Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Donna, Mrs. Andrew Rabiewsky, two grandchildren,three sisters, Marion Craog, of Tornoto, Maida Ritchie, of Beeton and Madeline Porritt, of Gilford and one brother, Wm. J. Orr, of Tottenham....
