Description : Well known former Gilford resident Helen Neilly, 66, died Friday at Toronto General Hospital from a stroke. Mrs. Neilly suffered the stroke July 8 at her home in Englehart, Ont. and was then flown to Toronto General for further medical attention. Sister-in-law of Simcoe County School Board trustee Sam Neilly of Gilford, Mrs. Neilly leaves her husband Louis, sons Scott and Peter, Gilford, daughter Louise, Brampton and Sharon Kostyk, North Bay.Funeral services were held for friends and family on July 19 at Gilford United Church.

Special grandfather of Shawn, Nikki, Julie, Tanya, Steven, Elizabeth, Natasha, Lance, Candice and Amanda. Dear brother of Murray and the late Clayton and Harry. Remembered by many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held at the McKelvey Funeral Home, 264 Burton Ave., Barrie on Friday. Service was on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Churchill. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford. If so desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

MEREDITH, Arnold James. Suddenly at his residence on Sunday, December 24, 1989, Arnold Meredith of RR1,Gilford in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Etta Neilly and the late Betty Porritt. Dear brother of Keith of B.C. and the late Minnie O'Shaughenessy. Dearly loved uncle of Elaine Hawley and her husband Jim of B.C. Dearly loved great uncle of Janet Gillham and her husband Bruce and their children Jason and Jonathan. Will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours.
Friends called at the Lathangue & Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Street, Bradford on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Service was in the chapel on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Coulson's Hill.

Neilly, Richard J. obituary

"Richard James Neilly, who has been a resident of Aurora for the past fourteen years, died suddenly on Tuesday, November 14 at his late residence in town. Born in Gilford, Mr. Neilly received his public school education there and later attended Bradford high school. For twenty-eight years he was the manager and buyer for the Victoria Mercantile Company, Victoria Harbour, Ontario. Moving to Drayton in 1929 he conducted a general store and later retired, moving to Aurora in 1936. Mr. Neilly was a member of the former Methodist Church and later the United Church and was also a part master of the Victoria Lodge, A.F. & A.M. for Victoria Harbour. The funeral service was conducted be Rev. H. Howey on Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home. Interment was at Coulson's Hills cemetery. The pallbearers were three cousins, William Baynes, Barrie, Wilfred Wood, Deerhurst, and Roy Kneeshaw, Bradford; and three members of the Aurora United Church, Frank Hughes, Tom Swindle, and Alex Bell. Surviving are his widow, the former Rose Baker; three sons, Homer of Ottawa, Harold of the Western University, London, and Earl of Aurora; one daughter Vivian of Aurora; four sisters, Cassie, Addie, Jennie, of Toronto, and Annie of Norland. A brother, Wesley, paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I."

Sgt. Pilot Scott Neilly, Flight Instructor for the R.C.A.F. He died during the Second World War in a training accident in New Brunswick on May 28, 1942.

Description : Muriel Elizabeth, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dolph Kneeshaw, Gilford, married Stanley Eugene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Cairns, Bradford. Rev. W. Spurgeon Butt officiated and Mr. Frank Dutcher of Barrie, uncle of the bride, played the wedding music. The bride was attended by Miss Marion Bell of Gilford, and groomsman, as well as cousin, was Mr. Milton Fisher of Toronto. The ushers were Mr. Gordon Kneeshaw, brother of the bride, and Mr. Jack Richardson of Toronto, cousin of the groom. The wedding took place at Ebenezer United Church and the reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Upon returning from a honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Cairns will reside on the groom's farm near Bradford.

Dear son-in-law of Gertrude and the lated [sic] Jack VanLuyk. Dear brother-in-law of Adrian and Sara VanLuyk, John and Anita Brouwer and Peter VanLuyk. Gladys Andrews, previously of Gilford and most recently Foxboro, beloved wife of Vimy, beloved mother of Kimberly and Shawn, still at home. Beloved daughter of Grace Simpson and the late Archie Simpson of Gilford, dear sister of Mary Dawe (Harvey), Albert Simpson (Shirley), Alice Ritchie (Lawrence), Ronald Simpson (Joan), Diana Davey (Roy), George Simpson (Margaret), Ruth Verrips (Dick), Elsie Visser, Robert Simpson (Julie), Kenneth Simpson (Marianne), Shawn Simpson (Diane), Patrick Simpson (Sandy), Heather Simpson, Sheila Visser (Rick), the late James Simpson and Tim Taylor (Joanne). Gladys was loved by 72 nieces and nephews. She will ever be remembered by many children in Foxboro whom she babysat. Funeral services were held at the McConnel Funeral Home, Madoc, Ont. on August 19, 1989 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Eldorado Cemetery, Eldorado. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
