Description : The very sudden passing of Alonzo Milligan Williams, on Monday, July 15, at his home in West Gwillimbury was a shock to his family and friends. He had apparently enjoyed good health up to the time of his death.Born in Colgan in Tecumseth Township in 1894, the son of the late John Henry Williams and his wife, Zelpha Ann Milligan, he moved to the farm in West Gwillimbury, located on what is now Highway 88, in 1906, after the Colgan farm was sold.Mr. Williams attended school at Colgan and later at Middleton, and was a farmer all of his life until retiring four years ago.He married Dorothy Jackson of Newton Robinson on June 9, 1934, who survives him. Also surviving are his son Ralph, who farms the home farm, and two daughters, namely, Mrs. Charles Batt (Zelpha) of Oak Ridges, and Mrs. Ronald Lisk (Mary) of Beeton. Eight grandchildren also survive, as well as three sisters, Mrs. Robt. Wood (Lettie) of Newton Robinson; Mrs. W. R. Smetlzer (Anna) Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. W. E. Anderson (Alexandra) of Sundridge. He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Harry (his twin brother), and Silas. The largely attended funeral was held from Lewis Funeral Home, Bradford, on Wednesday, July 17, with interment in Bond Head Cemetery.
